An early morning coffee and pastry in Yackandandah followed by a stroll along the historic streetscape will set the scene for a great day of High Country touring.
After soaking in the arty and eclectic vibe of Yack, head to the bottom of the hill and turn right into William St, which turns into the Myrtleford-Yackandandah Road (C527). Travel through the beautiful Mudgegonga Valley for 40km before arriving in the village of Myrtleford.
Stretch your legs along the Myrtleford Historic Walk, an easy township walk of 1.8km (around 45 minutes). This walk highlights the significant historical aspects of Myrtleford and will take you around the town discovering what once was a thriving gold mining town.
For hungry tummies, Cafe Fez features a traditional menu of Middle-Eastern favourites and is nestled into Red Ramia Trading, a magical mystery tour of antique furniture, textiles and handicrafts from China, India, Morocco and Japan.
Beechworth is a 25 minute drive heading out of town on the Great Alpine Road (B500) towards Wangaratta.
Once you arrive in Beechworth, head to the main shopping precinct and take a leisurely stroll along the two main streets and discover the treasures that lie within the beautiful shopfronts. Browse through the sophisticated boutiques boasting luxury fabrics, designer labels, vintage jewellery, quality leather goods and contemporary homewares and gifts. The kids (big and little) will be delighted with the popular lolly shop and toy store, with old and new favourites galore.
To complete the loop, Yackandandah is a short 20 minute drive on the Beechworth-Wodonga Road (C315).
