Yackandandah is one of the prettiest villages in Victoria. Beautiful rolling hills, crystal clear creeks, swimming holes and historic gold rush trails make Yackandandah a place to relax and renew in nature. Gold panning is a favourite activity for many visitors, hoping to strike it big, or small, surrounded by native forests and birdsong. Nestled into the surrounding landscape, Yackandandah is awash with golden hues in autumn and leaf green in spring, a legacy of European tree plantings in the 1850's. The aboriginal meaning of Yackandandah is "one boulder on top of another at the junction of two creeks". If you look hard enough the granite boulders can still be found.
