From humble beginnings in a shed on their Yackandandah property, the couple have been welcoming visitors to their distillery door and tasting room at the Yack Station Precinct since 2021.
Backwoods produces single malt and rye whiskies alongside gins that celebrate native botanicals. Every spirit is made using Australian-grown grains, local casks, and native ingredients, earning the distillery awards including Champion Victorian Distiller 2024, World Whiskies Rye Category Winner 2022 and 2024, and Best Australian Single Malt Whisky in 2022 and 2025.
Visitors can enjoy a tasting paddle or a freshly crafted Gin and Tonic beside the gleaming copper stills, and take home a bottle of their favourite whisky or gin. A range of gift options is also available, perfect for sharing the taste of handcrafted Australian spirits with friends and family.
